The Greatest Feature That Bungie Can Bring To The Postmaster

If there’s one thing that Bungie add to the Postmaster, it needs to be this.

With Beyond Light on the way, I thought that I could trust Bungie to deliver on everything that Guardians need. I was wrong.

While checking out what everyone is thinking on the Destiny Subreddit, I found one post that pointed out one of the most glaringly obvious flaws in the Postmaster, and no one else has been talking about it since the launch of Destiny 1.

Delete Option

Hear me out, this isn’t as simple as a delete button. We sort of have that already in the option to dismantle items from the Postmaster before picking them up. However, there’s a much deeper flaw in the Postmaster that has yet to be addressed.

The issue is that while we can go through and delete most items individually, there’s no option to delete everything we don’t want in one go. Why is this necessary? Well the feature actually exists in Anthem, which makes it awful that it doesn’t appear at all in Destiny 2.

How Would The Feature Work?

The way I see it, there are two ways that a mass delete button can work in Destiny 2. First, it just deletes everything left in the Postmaster’s inventory. This would give you all of the consumables from dismantling those items in one go, and save you about five minutes in one go, hours over your time with the game.

The second way that this feature could work is with a selection button. If you could mark items for the trash, as you can in Fallout 76, then the delete button could just delete those. This is probably the better way to do things, and it’s also the way that Anthem employs the feature too.

The Postmaster is just a time hole when it comes to Destiny 2. We all spend so much time earning gear and weapons, which is great, but that comes with the cost of managing those items.

We can’t store everything in a Vault, so we have to pick and choose what we keep. But this is a hugely boring process. Destiny 2 isn’t a management game, it’s a looter shooter with space magic. Guardians shouldn’t have to spend hours every year just picking what they want to keep out of the items that they’ve missed or been unable to collect while out and about.

Both of the options I’ve outlined here are viable, and another MMO already uses one of them. I think that it would be a massive oversight for Bungie not to make some sort of change to the Postmaster with Beyond Light.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
