The Third Season Of Dawn Lore Story Reveals The Sundial Bosses

This third chapter of lore for Season of Dawn that Bungie have revealed really starts to ramp up the excitement. It goes into detail about the three bosses, and how they became bosses, of The Sundial, which is the new activity for Season of Dawn. At this point I’m starting to understand where the story will go with this activity, so let’s discuss it.

Firstly we have these three Psion sisters. They clearly want to be totally free of the Cabal, or at least in a better position, maybe one of leadership. They also believe that Ghaul, the end boss of Destiny 2’s Red War campaign, could have been swayed to sympathise with their requests. As a result, these three want to alter the timeline in the past to see if they can create a different outcome to the Red War, one where Ghaul won. At least one sister wants that.

It looks like each sister wants something different from The Sundial, which they’ve somehow stumbled up. On a side note, why the heck has Osiris built this time machine in such an obvious place? Even disguised these Psion sisters found it, so it must have been pretty damn obvious! Back to the point, It sounds like one sister wants to rewrite the Red War, one wants to go back and kill Ghaul before he became a Cabal leader, and one wants to head into the future and conquer the Guardians there.

With an assault on three fronts throughout time, no wonder Osiris saw such a dark picture of Humanity’s future. As these Psion sisters point out, we are awful at predicting the future, or defending against time attacks, so we really need to prevent all of these assaults. The problem is, we don’t know where these sisters are.

This is where I think The Sundial activity will come into its own. Guardians will be jumping into portals in search of each sister, and only find one when they end up stumbling across them, because there are so many different timelines to explore. I quite like this idea, because it brings a meaning to the endless grind of working through The Sundial, instead of it being an activity that brings this storyline to an end before the end of the season has time to come around.

One thing that this lore doesn’t explain is what all of this has to do with Saint-14, and that’s really important in my opinion. Hopefully it’s cleared up in the next piece. At least we now know who all these Sundial bosses are in the Season of Dawn roadmap.

Those are my thoughts on this third section of lore for Season of Dawn. Why don’t you let me know what you think of it in the comments after you read it here.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
