With this week’s reset Truth has returned to the Destiny universe in Destiny 2. Bungie revealed that the weapon was coming with the Season of Opulence roadmap, and that time is finally upon us. The weapon is only accessible through an Exotic quest, which we’ve outlined a guide for right here to help you pick up Truth as soon as possible. Let’s dive in.
What is Truth?
Before we begin, a quick overview of why everyone loves Truth. Its Exotic perk causes rockets to aggressively track enemies, and those rockets simply detonate when near enemies too. The weapon is a PVP favourite, and it doesn’t look like that’s changing with the Destiny 2 version. So if you’re super into your PVP, this weapon is for you. Let the quest guide begin.
Step 1: Complete a Run in The Menagerie
This quest doesn’t begin in the Tower as others have. Instead you need to go and complete a Menagerie run. Right at the end, when you open the chest, you’ll receive an Awoken Script which will begin the quest for Truth.
Step 2: Visit The Dreaming City And Speak to Peta Venj
Petra Venj, being an Awoken, is able to read the Awoken Script you just found. By heading to The Dreaming City and speaking to her you’ll get some information that will send you on your way to the next part of the quest.
Step 3: Complete an Ascendant Challenge Bounty From Petra Venj
This step could be difficult or easy depending on what the weekly Ascendant Challenge bounty is. The week the quest went live it was the one for the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector. When you’ve completed the Bounty you’ll get a broken map, which leads to the toughest step of the quest.
Step 4: Piece The Map Together
When the quest launched this step was bugged pretty badly, allowing you to progress quickly from the first piece and effectively avoid this entire step. However, Bungie will definitely fix this at some point, so we’re going to cover the entire step here for you in case you’re trying to do it the legit way, or are taking the quest on post-fix.
Piece 1
Head to Nessus and use a Tincture of Queensfoil in order to gain Ascendance. Head over to The Cistern and look for the Well of Flame tower, more specifically the giant tree in front of it. Turn left here and look for the pool of Radiolarian Fluid, the white stuff or ‘Vex Milk’. If you’re Ascendant then you’ll see these hidden platforms, at the top of which is a chest containing the very first map piece.
Decoding the map piece requires you to turn in a Corsair Badge in the Dreaming City. To get one you need to kill Scorn until a Corsair item drops, then examine that item to figure out where you need to go to get the Badge. Fair warning, once you’ve figured out where you’re going and you’ve found the Corsair body, a massive Scorn enemy will spawn for you to kill.
To fully complete this Map Piece head to the Corsair in Divalian Mists. Once you’ve turned in the item the decoding is all over.
Piece 2
Getting the Second Piece
To get the second piece you need to become Ascendant again and then head to the Blind Well. You need to head up some more platforms in order to find the piece as you did with the last one.
Decoding the Second Piece
Now you need to get the second Piece from Petra, and then you’re heading into the Nightfall Playlist. You need to get 60 Rocket kills and complete three Nightfalls. A good tactic here is to clear the perks on your Nightfall Card and increase Power handicap to 100. Then turn on Heavyweight and equip a Rocket Launcher.
Piece 3
Getting the third Piece
To get this Piece you need to head to the Jetsam of Saturn region on the Tangled Shore. Head into the Hive ship as if you were planning on taking on the Mindbender, and kill the Giant Ogre you’ll eventually come across.
Decoding the Third Piece
For this Map Piece you once again need to go to Nessus and take a Tincture of Queensfoil. You need to kill 50 enemies with a Rocket Launcher while Ascendant, so get killing! You’ll get bonus progress for killing multiple enemies at once. A quick tip is to Rally to the Flag at Public Events in order to get more Power Ammo.
Piece 4
Getting Piece 4
Getting this piece is easy, just complete a Nightfall Strike.
Decoding Piece 4
This final Piece requires you to kill 100 Hive in the Tangled Shore. The Lost Sector Wolfship Turbine is pretty good for this, and there’s no weapon restriction so go nuts.
Step 5: Take on And Complete The Warden of Nothing Strike
It’s not quite as simple as completing the Strike on its own, you’ll actually have to open one specific chest. Once again you need a Tincture of Queensfoil to become Ascendant for this quest step, allowing you to see the hidden platforms. With each platform there is an orb spinning nearby, you’ll need to interact with each orb to make the platforms appear. Below are the locations, a big thanks to Polygon for these, you can find a link to their original source at the end of the article.
Once you’ve activated all four you need to finish the Strike and kill the boss. Once it’s dead a new platform will appear. Follow the platform and the path to a Dreaming City chest that contains Truth. Bear in mind that you only have 90 seconds to do this, so don’t waste time celebrating, do that when you’ve got a shiny new Exotic.
Step 6: Visit Benedict 99-40
You’ve got Truth now so you don’t have to do this, but there is a new message from Calus if you want to hear it. He basically just has something to say about the whole situation.
That’s the entire guide for getting Truth! Let us know if you’re picking up the new Exotic Rocket Launcher in the comments, and let us know what you think of the quest overall! We’ll be posting an in-depth analysis of the weapon in the coming days so keep an eye out for that.
