Bad Juju has been brought back to Destiny 2! But of course there’s a big quest before you can get your hands on it. This is our guide to that quest to help you get hold of Bad Juju as fast as possible.

Step 1: The Tribute Hall

You need to go to Werner 99-40 over on Nessus, on Calus’ Barge. This is where you’ll find the chest that spurred so many Guardians on to discover Bad Juju in the first place. Pay the 5,000 Glimmer and open the chest, you’ll get an Invitation from the Emperor. Following the invitation will guide you to a new physical location, the Tribute Hall.

Opening the Tribute Hall is easy, just complete one of Calus’ Bounties without dying. We recommend the Bounty for killing 50 enemies, just start a Strike after that and you’ll be fine. Completing the Bounty earns you a Boom of the Emperor, which gives you a discount at Calus’ shop. Buy the flag and plant it in front of the Tribute Hall to open the doors.

In the middle of the room is a chest, and that’s where Bad Juju is waiting. But you’ll have to complete a few more tasks before you can claim it.

Step 2: 18 Tributes

You need to earn and place five dog statues in order to unlock Bad Juju from its case. You get those dogs from sets of Tributes, and you’ll need to place a total of 18 Tributes in order to unlock the mission that lands you Bad Juju.

In your Pursuits tab you’ll now have a Tribute Hall entry, inspecting it will reveal the Tributes you can complete. If you’ve played loads of Destiny 2 this season there’s a good chance you’ve already unlocked a few of them.

There will be markers in the Tribute Hall for the Tribute Statues you’ve already unlocked. Dealing with these now will give you an idea of how much work you have left to do. We recommend that you pick the easiest sounding Tributes that you have left, just so you can get through them quickly.

Putting on all of the Calus-themed gear and weapons you have and running through activities will help you unlock Tributes, but some may take a lot of time. Alternatively, Calus is selling Tribute Statues in exchange for Glimmer, Bright Dust, and Planetary Materials. Completing Calus’ Bounties will reduce the cost of Tribute Statues by between 1% and 80%, which should allow you to buy a couple more than you thought you would.

The fifth dog statue will be yours once you’ve placed your eighteenth Tribute Statue. Now it’s time for The Other Side.

Step 3: The Other Side

This quest will see you walk up to Bad Juju in its case, interact with it, and then be transported to the Ascendant Realm. We’ve heard that this mission is far easier than the one required for Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected, and that it can be finished solo. The Power Level requirement is 350, so if you’ve been keeping up with each season you should be fine.

After completing the mission you’ll have another portal to jump through, but this time it’s back to the real world. Now you can unlock the case Bad Juju is being kept in.

That’s it for our guide for getting Bad Juju, let us know if we missed anything in the comments. We’ll have an in-depth analysis of the weapon up later this week, but for now you should try to get it anyway because it’s awesome.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
