Bungie has released the launch trailer for Destiny 2 Shadowkeep a little ahead of the expansion’s actual launch date of the 1st of October, and it shows Guardians taking the Moon as their playground.
Check out the trailer below and read on for more details.
Within this launch trailer we can see a whole load of details that we’re already aware of, but let’s go through everything here just in case you’ve missed our previous articles and need a refresh.
Armour 2.0
A big deal of Armour 2.0 is made in this trailer, and with good reason. This is a brand new system for Armour in the Destiny universe, flipping a lot of what Guardians have become used to on its head. No longer are we reliant on the perks and rolls of them that Armour drops with, instead we can keep a piece of Armour and change out the Mods to make it suit the way we play. This creates a deeper RPG feel to Destiny 2, and it’s something we can’t wait to experience.
Finishing Moves
Within Armour 2.0 we have Finishing Moves, which are also shown in the trailer. You should read our article on them, but they’re basically an extension of cosmetics within armour. You can equip these as you can equip Mods, and they’ll have an active effect when used to help with the way you play. This might only mean that you get some additional ammo drops, but that’s better than nothing.
Season of the Undying
The trailer shows that Season of the Undying starts with Shadowkeep. We briefly saw some of the details about this season when Destiny 2 was at Gamescom 2019. The season is completely new, and will be the first to see a start and end event that completely changes the way Destiny 2 looks for all Guardians.
Shadowkeep Content
There was so much Shadowkeep content on show that it’s hard to detail everything. All the features such as the new dungeon, Strikes, and the Moon as a playground were shown. I think this aspect of the expansion is probably the newest thing to be shown though, the Moon as a playground. Up until now the Moon has seemed like a place that we need to take back from the Hive, but now it looks like they’re just a minor nuisance that we need to deal with while we play a round of tank golf.
