Stasis In Destiny 2 Could Do With Some Quality Of Life Tweaks
Stasis isn’t quite perfect, but these changes would get it closer to being that.
Looking through what Guardians have been saying on the Destiny 2 Subreddit, it seems like quite a few of you are taking issue with the lore-specific aspects of Stasis. This new element, or the lack of an element, is something that’s completely changed the game. However, it doesn’t technically stack up with Destiny 2 lore. With that in mind, here are some tweaks suggested by IllustriousGoat831 that we think are pretty great.
Stasis Shouldn’t Affect Guardians In Well of Radiance
Technically speaking, Stasis is the absence of atomic movement. There’s no entropy within the crystals. Solar is the complete opposite, using fire and fusion, therefore creating a lot of subatomic movement.
Well of Radiance is a healing rift that’s powered by Solar, so the atomic movement there is actually fuelling Guardians within it. Since that’s the case, and the Well of Radiance isn’t going to stop until it’s done, Stasis abilities should be nullified when Guardians are standing in one.
While nulling the Stasis Supers might be a bit overpowered, it would line up with the lore of the game. You could potentially deal with this in the Crucible because those arenas are all virtual battles. I think you could argue that the elemental effects don’t apply in simulations and get around it there.
Shooting Stasis Crystals Should Free Your Friends
At the opening to Beyond Light’s campaign, we free Varicks from Stasis crystals by shooting them. Nowhwere else in the game is this used. It’s like a tutorial that was leftover from a previous version of the game.
I think most Guardians would love to have the option to free their friends from Stasis crystals by shooting them. If not just in PvE, then in PvP as well. The number of times I’ve been killed because I was trapped is ridiculous. Even if a grenade from a fellow Guardian just shattered the crystals, it would be something.
These two changes aren’t anything special, in fact they feel like they should already be a part of the game. Why they’re not is a little beyond me. I guess Bungie might be waiting until they get to future seasons to tweak the Subclasses, but that may well be too little too late.
