Guardian Opens 30 Exotic Engrams In Destiny 1 In 2020

Don’t ever let this be you.

Guardian Opens 30 Exotic Engrams In Destiny 1 In 2020

Whilst scanning through the Destiny 2 Subreddit recently, I came across a tragic story. That story has been made into a video that is, quite frankly, very difficult to watch as an avid Guardian.

The story goes that this Guardian was getting ready for the release of Rise of Iron in Destiny 1. This was the final expansion that the game saw, and probably the best as well. Before it launched though, just as you all did prior to Beyond Light, Guardians went nuts stockpiling Exotic Engrams left, right, and center.

The idea here was to have a bunch of powerful gear on day one. At the time, if you opened up an Engram at a higher Power Level, it would always drop an item at or above that Power Level. Since there’s always a grind to reach the new soft cap Power Level with an expansion, this Guardian was doing what we all did. The problem is, they didn’t come back.

Rise of Iron launched in 2016. Now, in 2020, when this Guardian finally logged back into Destiny 1, they discovered all of the Engrams they had stockpiled for the early days of the expansion’s release. They’d never touched them. In total, they had 30, and the following video shows the crushing opening of each one.

It might not seem that terrible now, but every Guardian who played Destiny 1 knows how useful so few of those items are. Add into this the fact that you could very easily get the best new Exotic Rocket Launcher in the game as part of the story, and they’re almost entirely pointless.

If you’re reading this, and you put as much work as possible into Destiny 2 as you could before Beyond Light launched, I hope you’ve come back to the game since November 10. If you haven’t, then why?

It’s not worth putting in all of that effort if you’re not going to play the new content as it comes out. Please don’t let yourself be put off by that feeling of exhaustion and exasperation with the content of Destiny 2 prior to the expansion’s release. All of that effort you put in will be worth it if you come back.

Let mw know if this affects you in any way in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
