Hey there good lookin’

Does the Drifter Look Better to You in Destiny 2?

Season of the Lost has added a lot of fantastic new content to Destiny 2. We’ve got all kinds of new missions to blast through, an entirely new season-long quest in this new compass for the Queen of the Reef, and there’s still all the usual stuff to keep up with. While keeping up with all of that usual stuff, you may come across a subtle difference in the appearance of one of the faces you’ll have become used to in Destiny 2. The Drifter.

The Drifter has been a staple in the Tower ever since Season of The Drifter. He’s the guy who brought us Gambit, and he’s also one of the most mysterious characters in the Destiny 2 universe. Savathun might be able to create her own Hive Guardians, but this guy has a giant ball of ice and somehow rangles Taken for fights.

If you visit the Drifter today, you might not notice the difference. However, one eagle-eyed Guardian managed to put together a screenshot of a before and after of the Gambit vendor so you can all see the difference for yourselves.

As you can see, the scars are more subtle, and the Drifter generally looks a bit more relaxed. He’s always seemed like he’s had something else going on in the background, but now he’s much more chilled out. I reckon this is because he’s had very little to do in the last few seasons, and now he’s allowing himself to rest. There’s never usually much time for that in this universe, so let’s let him have it.

I don’t think this means anything for the future of Gambit. Bungie has probably given the guy a new look as part of some plan it has for the future. I don’t think we’re going to see what that plan is for a while though. You never know, it could even tie into the Bungie 30th anniversary content. We’ll just have to wait and see what comes out of the woodwork on this one.

Let us know if you knew there was something different and have some suspicions about where this is going for the future of Destiny 2 in the comments. We’d love to hear your thoughts.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
