Bungie Just Gave Duality A Little Boost In Destiny 2

It’s time to pick Duality up again.

Is Duality The Best Exotic Shotgun In Destiny 2?

In their most recent This Week At Bungie article, the Destiny 2 developer slipped in a tiny note about one of my favourite weapons, Duality. In this note they explained that they’re changing a couple of things about it, both of which serve to make it more powerful in a weird way. I don’t know how many Guardians will have picked up on this, so. I wanted to point it out to you all so we can all begin using Duality again.

Better Falloff

The first change that Bungie has made to this phenomenal weapon is that they’ve pushed out the damage falloff by 1.25m. This applies to both firing from the hip, which is a wider and more powerful close-range shot, and down sights, which is the less powerful ranged attack.

This effectively means that you can now nail enemies that are slightly further away and still maintain the same level of damage. It also means that any stacks that are buffing your damage will apply further out, making it easier to deal more damage. I can’t wait to put some Guardians down in the Crucible with this.

New Stacks

The second change coming to Duality might not seem that great, but it is. So the stacks for buffing damage have been lowered from 7 to 5. However, the damage that is applied to the weapon remains the same at the top level. This basically means that 2 stacks have been consolidated into the first 5.

So when you’re stacking up the damage, you’ll be getting slightly more of a buff for each level. Sure, the buff isn’t massive, but it’s more than it was. That makes Duality even more viable as a weapon to use in both PvE and PvP.

It’s great to see Bungie focusing on such a great weapon. Usually it takes them forever to get around to tweaking the latest guns, but here we’re getting a meaningful update to one of the best Shotguns in the game in the same season it was introduced.

Of course, Bungie is always looking at the meta and trying to keep Destiny 2 as enjoyable as possible. I think changes like this are always for the better though. Duality is a versatile weapon that you can take to any activity and come out on top with. I’ve been using it since the start of Beyond Light, and I’m not going to stop now.

Let us know what you think of this weapon buff in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
