Hand Cannon Holster Mod has Broken Hawkmoon in Destiny 2

Combine the two before it’s fixed.

Youve-Heard-Of-Hawkmoon-But-How-About-Honkmoon

As is tradition, Bungie has absolutely destroyed one of Destiny 2’s Exotics with the launch of Season of the Lost and a bunch of brand new mods. One mod in particular called Hand Cannon Holster has been found to offer some interesting perks when using Hawkmoon. This Hand Cannon is a pretty decent weapon in its own right, but bringing this mod into the mix completely changes the game, making you one of the biggest threats on the field.

Traditionally, the final shot of any magazine in Hawkmoon will deal more damage, pretty much killing any enemy in PvE and PvP. It’s a good trick to mess around with if you’re trying to make the most of your time in an even like Iron Banner or some of the more challenging PvE activities. However, you can cheat the system with Hand Cannon Holster modded onto your leg armor.

This mod refills your Hand Cannons while they’re holstered. Simple right? Well, it’s not so simple on Hawkmoon. Guardians have worked out that all you need to do is fire off the final, more powerful shot, pull out your Ghost for four seconds, swap back to Hawkmoon, and you’ve got another incredibly powerful shot ready to go.

This avoids the ned to reload the weapon and fire off all the other shots in the magazine. It’s also a good way to ensure that you have a steady supply of overpowered shots and don’t waste any ammo or time firing off the shots you don’t want. For me, I know that’s my biggest time sink with this weapon.

To be honest, this sounds pretty intentional to me, but I don’t think Bungie anticipated Guardians to use Hawkmoon in quite this way. Then again, I don’t know why they wouldn’t see us immediately jumping on this. I think we’re going to have to wait and see what Bungie does with this. At the time of writing, it hasn’t been fixed, but it may have been removed by the time this article goes up.

This one is pretty crazy, I want to hear what you Guardians think of it in the comments. Let us know if there’s anything you can see would be beneficial with this mod outside of Hawkmoon.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
