Pre-load Destiny 2 Shadowkeep on PC

The pre-load for Destiny 2 Shadowkeep has been live on PC for about five days now. If you’re a PC guardian than you can download Update 2.6.0, which effectively pre-loads Shadowkeep into your game. It’s also worth mentioning that anyone downloading Destiny 2 New Light will also get all of these same files, since the free-to-play version of the game also includes access to the Moon.

Pre-load Destiny 2 Shadowkeep for Google Stadia

Don’t be silly! Goole Stadia isn’t even out yet. However, Destiny 2 New Light will be coming to the new platform, so it’s likely that we’ll see some unusual Guardians out there from Google’s HQ while they prep the platform for Destiny 2 when they launch Stadia in November.

Pre-load Destiny 2 Shadowkeep for Console

Console Guardians, like myself, need to wait until about 10AM PDT, 5PM UTC, before the server maintenance for Destiny 2 starts. During this maintenance, which is expected to take about 24 hours, we’ll all be able to download Shadowkeep in preparation for the moment those servers go live.

Why the Difference Between Console and PC?

Bungie has had a lot of work to do with the migration of PC Guardians from Battle.net to Steam. I imagine the reason that PC Guardians can pre-load Shadowkeep easier has something to do with making sure that they’re not left out on the day. Bungie has launched many expansions and two whole Destiny games for consoles now, so it seems like they know what they’re doing. The last-minute update for console players could also have something to do with consoles immediately loading all the files, rather than some files being hidden until a certain date with PC.

Bungie will be actively Tweeting about the update, server maintenance, and Shadowkeep pre-load situation, so make sure you follow them on Twitter. This is important because you might miss something really big if you’re not paying attention to what they say here.
