Destiny 2 Transmog Hits Next Season

Fashionable Guardians get ready!

As part of their latest update, Bungie told us when we can finally expect Destiny 2 transmog to rear its head in the game. We don’t even have that long to wait. As of next season, we’ll be able to pick up the looks of any piece of armour and wear it over another. The stats of the armour we’re wearing will be retained though, meaning we can basically make ourselves look incredible without compromising our Power Level.

Ada-1 Is The One

Staring next season, Guardians can visit Ada-1 and have the opportunity to turn any piece of armour into an ornament for all of their other armour. This will be called ‘Armour Synthesis’, and it sounds like a brilliant way to integrate Transmog into the game.

Okay, so how will this work specifically? Well, every season we’re going to get a set of bounties. These will focus on various activities, sort of like the bounties from Banshee-44. The rewards for those bounties will allow Guardians to power Ada-1’s Loom. This is the mechanism that crushes your armour and transforms it into an ornament that you can wear over any other piece of armour.

You’ll also be able to buy the materials required with Silver, which is a fair deal if you’re in a rush to do this, I think.

Off the back of this, shaders are also permanent unlocks with Season 14. This means that if you’ve ever used a shader, you can then apply it to some of your armour, even with an ornament on. This provides you with a tonne of customisation options.

What you’re looking at above is an image of what the ornament screen could look like. Sure, you’ll need to grind to get all of these helmets in your inventory, but once they’re there, they’re there forever.

I quite like the idea that Bungie is making transmog a part of the grind in Destiny 2. I’ve been thinking for a while that ornaments are something that I personally quite like because of the effort required to get them. These ornaments, unless you buy them, have that same effort associated with them.

I love the idea of being able to earn a piece of armour once, and if I love the look then I can keep it forever. It’s not something I’ve ever been that bothered about in Destiny 2, but now that the option is so close, I can’t wait to start working with it.

Let us know if you’re excited for Season 14 in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
