Destiny 2 Go Fast Update Notes


Anyone who’s part of the Destiny community knows that recently knows that the general attitude towards Destiny 2 and Bungie in general has taken a turn towards the hostile lately. The thing is, Bungie were always listening to the comments we make about their games, how we say Destiny 1 is way better than Destiny 2 right now and that they should fulfil their promises, and how we say that the recent DLC isn’t worth the price. Finally Bungie has responded, and they’re coming back at us with a roadmap for updates and in-depth details about them.

The first of these updates, which Bungie is currently playtesting, is lovingly known as the Go Fast Update. The goal of the update it to ‘provide more hero moments’, which means improving the overall speed of our Guardians in pretty much every way. Weapons will also see a speed boost, as well as Super energy regeneration. The mega list of what’s coming in the update is pretty interesting, so let’s go through it in detail.

Firstly all three glides are returning, as well as Strafe Lift and Catapult, with buffs that make them longer and therefore much more unique as abilities. On top of this Mobility is being extended, meaning it’s faster than normal and everyone is getting faster with it. All Guardian ground speeds are also getting faster, hence that Go Faster Update name.

Even on the ground Sentinels, Arcstriders, and Strikers will all move at the same speed while in their Supers, something that can be a real pain in the ass when you’re killed at the last minute. On the note of Supers I’m happy to reveal that Arcstrider is getting a few buffs to bring it up to scratch with the other Supers in PVP. Attack animations are being sped up, dodge animations are being sped up, and all range attacks are getting a boost, making the Arcstrider a lot more powerful.

Weapons are getting some buffs also, including the Hand Cannon, Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, and Pulse Rifle. The goal, Bungie say, is to make Fusion Rifles, Shotguns, and Sniper Rifles more prevalent in Destiny 2. This is spreading into PVP too, but there’s more to make PVP even better and faster.

In Quickplay matches all Guardian Respawn timers have been decreased, and Power Ammo Respawn timers in Quickplay matches have been reduced by 30% as well.

Power Ammo respawn timers have been reduced in Survival by 40%, and finally the same respawn timers have been reduced by 25% in Countdown matches too. The Power Ammo count has been altered for the timer and the weapon type you’re using when you pick it up. On top of all of this, if you’re holding Power Ammo when you die, it’s dropped for your enemy to pick up, available for 30 seconds.

In the final notes of the update Bungie reveal that Destiny 2 shipped with a bug that made the kickback from Sniper Rifles ridiculous, and they couldn’t fix it. The thing is, now they know how to fix it, and in the updates coming soon they’ll be including one that drops that kickback and makes it far easier to be a Sniper in the Crucible.

From me, thank you Bungie. Honestly it’s really encouraging to see a developer taking an interest in their community so much so that they then create developmental updates around them.
