Bungie Is Working Hard To Keep Locations Relevant

In their recent This Week At Bungie article, Bungie spoke about how they’re working to keep locations relevant. This is a big topic for the community. Every expansion brings along a new great place to play, but for those who enjoy the older locations, sometimes there can be a lack of content, and no reason to return. Bungie’s working on that.

The Dreaming City and the Moon both got a tonne of content added with Forsaken and Shadowkeep. They were the two best places to play for a good long while, but now it’s all about Europa or Earth. to a degree, there’s no point in going to The Dreaming City or the Moon unless you want to look at them. They’re great locations, but the grind is only really going to push your Power Level on the more recent location, Europa.

Well, now Bungie is adding brand new rolls for weapons and armour that you can earn from the Dungeons on The Dreaming City and the Moon. This will make them worth playing on once again, and hopefully, keep some higher Power Level Guardians around on those locations for newer Guardians to witness being awesome.

The issue is, if everyone is playing in the same place, the other locations may as well be chucked into the Vault. Bungie might as well be releasing multiple locations, and vaulting multiple others since no one cares about them.

Now though, Bungie is taking a big step towards keeping the locations Guardians love in Destiny relevant for a long time. Dungeons are tough activities, and they need some concentration and teamwork in order to be beaten. That’s why Bungie is focussing their efforts on them. They know that Guardians will work together for the best loot, and if they put it in older locations, they’ll see traffic there that wasn’t coming before.

I do think that this might also be a hint that the next season will focus on these areas, but we’ll have to wait and see if that turns out to be true. It would be a nice touch to keep all the relevant content in a couple of places though.

Let us know what you think in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.

I know covid has been hard on the Bungie crew. It makes everything much more difficult when you can’t all be in the same space. I get that. However, I, and a lot of other people are disappointed in the direction we seem to be going. We’re tired of grinding bounties. Some of us hate the umbral engrams (another grind imo). Now we get to go back to doing the wretched things again and we are going to get recycled weapons – weapons we already grinded for (as well as armor) and now we get to do it all over again to re-earn those weapons but with different perks. They took 4 planets and all their strikes away. It really burns me that I paid for all that content and now I can’t play it anymore. If anything infuriates me, it’s that above all else. New Light is not the same as being able to start a character over and playing through all the campaigns for all those planets. Sun setting weapons we grinded for and love only to have them become useless is another issue. I’m not a die hard player since I’m not a content creator, but I am extremely dedicated one, playing Destiny nearly exclusively for up to 10 hours a day at least 6 days a week. I have talked to and read many comments where a lot of us hate the stasis subclass. I don’t know what the answer is, but things need to change. And I want to be able to play all the content I originally shelled out a lot of money for.
