Bungie Has Temporarily Killed The Solstice Of Heroes Weekly Challenges

Powerful gear just got a bit harder to earn this season.

You must know it by now, but Solstice of Heroes 2020 really is in the prime of its life right now. More Guardians than ever are taking part in the event in order to get their armour fully upgraded before it ends. However, a new snag has now hit the event, and it’s going to make those underpowered Guardians suffer the most.

So what’s the problem? Well the rewards that you should be able to get by completing runs in the European Aerial Zone, and then talking to Eva Levante, aren’t working as intended. Bungie hasn’t really elaborated on this more than what they’ve said in the above tweet. What we do know is that it now means that a very easy way of getting more powerful gear has been locked off.

This is a problem for Guardians who are still grinding for the new seasonal Power Level limit. This was a very easy way to pick up some very powerful gear, and push your Guardian all the way up to the seasonal limit, ready for Beyond Light’s release. However, now this easy route is gone, and we don’t know when it will return.

Don’t worry though, you’re still able to complete the Solstice of Heroes armour upgrade process. This remains unaffected, and I think that’s probably the best news we could have hoped for. Had Bungie prevented progress there, I think the entire Guardian community would have lost their minds.

Within the thread on Twitter I did also notice something that may be released to this issue.

As you can see, this Triumph isn’t completing as expected, at least according to the Guardian who posted the image. It seems weird that something so integral to the game would be broken in this way for an event. Solstice of Heroes has been around for a very long time in Destiny history, so I would have thought that it would be easy to recreate every year and push live.

I suspect that some of the preparations being made for Beyond Light have caused these issues. When it comes to Triumphs, Bungie is always cryptic, and creates some of the best challenges in the game. It looks like this time they might have caused more issues than they were trying to solve though.

Let us know if you’ve been affected by this issue in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
