What Gambit Needs To Be Revived In Destiny 2 Season 14

Gambit needs some attention Bungie.

What Gambit Needs To Be Revived In Destiny 2 Season 14

Gambit is one of the core pillars of Destiny 2 content. It’s a game mode that is heavily relied upon to pack out quests with filler content and is even the source of one of the best NPCs in the game, The Drifter. After Gambit Prime came along, nothing changed with this game mode for a while. With the launch of Beyond Light, it was consolidated into the new form of Gambit we play today. However, it needs something else if it’s going to stay relevant in Season 14.

Destiny 2 is a constantly evolving game. The PvE game is changing with every season, and Season of the Chosen was the culmination of the storytelling and engrossing gameplay that we’ve been after. Gambit and the Crucible have been left by the wayside though. Right now, Bungie is fixing the issues caused by Stasis, but Gambit in particular needs way more to keep it fun for future seasons.

Maps, Weapons, Armor, and More

Bungie needs to give us more to earn from Gambit and present a better reason to keep playing it. Every season’s Pinnacle Weapon has an Ornament associated with Gambit, and you need to grind the game mode to get it. Outside of that and certain other quests though, there’s no real reason to play. Not unless it’s just a game mode you love.

If we had some new weapons and armor, particularly some Exotics, to chase in the game mode, it would make it so much easier to justify playing it. There should be more specific rewards for Gambit, because it’s so completely different to the rest of the game. You’ve got to work with a team, against another team, and always consider the enemies around you. The gameplay is enthralling, but the lack of meaningful rewards makes it feel dull after a while.

If Bungie announced an entire progression track for Gambit in Season 14, it would honestly make me play more. The game mode feels forgotten. As a result, those who enjoy it are made to feel like dinosaurs because they’d rather play a few matches than jump into the broken Trials of Osiris.

Ultimately, I think Gambit needs to be refined. It needs to become more of a pinnacle activity like Gambit Prime used to be. The armor types were a nice idea, but they were way too specific for a community that basically ignores the mode. A single set of Pinnacle Gambit armor for completing certain challenges would make it much easier to enjoy playing, and definitely draw back a few more Guardians.

Let us know how you’d improve Gambit in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.

They need interactive maps, imagine if when you invaded you had the option to use your super or your grenades on a building that then collapses kills all guardians and Ai around so you lose those notes and now the map is forever changed during the match.

Or give us rewards for creative goals, like if all 4 of my team sends 5 notes each at once a specific objective happens to the other side instead of just 4 small blockers.

The game has so much potential but bungie is to busy trying to please the crybabies by making an unbalanced game balanced…
