Fictional Starship Comparison Video Mentions Destiny 2

A fairly new video has been doing the rounds on the Destiny 2 Subreddit recently. The video was shared originally by AnonymousFriend80, who seemed to enjoy it just about as much as I do.

The video looks at the sizes of various fictional starships, comparing them to others in a scale, moving from the smallest to the largest. To my surprise, this video actually includes a few ships from games, including Destiny 2. IF you want to skip right to the good stuff, watch it from 11:00.

It’s incredible just how big the Dreadnaught is compared to other objects out there. We all knew it was a colossal ship, but even compared to some of the ships in the Star Wars universe, it’s gigantic. I guess that’s what comes from it being a ship where an entire civilisation is clinging to life as they travel through the universe in pursuit of power.

What I think is the best thing about the video is that it also pulls out to look at some of the objects from the Halo games. We have one of the original rings, which is massive, and then Installation 0, the hub for all of the Rings.

If we look at Bungie’s past work, we can see that they’ve always been interested in putting colossal objects into the universe for players to explore. They really don’t do anything by half measures. They put together a world that’s as believable as one you’d find in a book, but they do it with so many less words.

I adore The Expanse, the TV Show. The Sol Gate, a portal to different planets, is still quite small in there. I’d expect some ships to be too large to pass through it, but then I don’t quite understand the sheer scale of such objects. By comparison, everything shown for Destiny 2 and Halo is far bigger, which I think tells us a lot about how Bungie works.

The last few years have been turbulent for Destiny 2. However, we’ve always gotten something big in each expansion or launch. With Beyond Light, we’re getting a Pyramid that’s frozen into the ice of Europa. I think that we’re finally going to be able to feel the scale of these ships in the next expansion, and it’s going to blow our minds.

Let us know what you think in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.

Cayde Six [youtube]: thanks to us. Sadly, a [Darkness] [Pyramid] did not make it from our suggested list due to [IT’S] ‘Ships’ can [Paracausally] come in varying Physical size. one fanart shows a few [Darkness] [Pyramids] Years ago being the size of gas giants. imagine that in canon….

At least the [Light]’s [Traveler] made it in Minutes [08:20]. the [Traveler] (Unfortunate [It]’s cinematical ‘size’ was not chosen in that video. cinematically sized being that from the Earth’s solid ground to reaching just above the exosphere of Earth. wish metaballstudios added that instead of [It]’s Gameplay size above the Last City), the Hive Dreadnaught, the Cabal star-disruptor almighty Space station, and the Cabal leviathan ship….were the only ones from Destiny that made it.

Now imagine if the Harmony Gift Mast (also from Destiny) was included there. being a lot larger in Phsysical size than that star trek dyson sphere of theirs. even Halo’s forerunner shield-world 006 Trevelyan is a bit bigger than that said-dyson sphere. both too being bungie franchises: Destiny and Halo.

hopefully more Destiny sizes coming from that youtuber.
