Destiny 1 Cosmodrome vs Destiny 2 Cosmodrome Comparison

Check out some of the subtle differences between the Destiny 2 Cosmodrome and the Destiny 1 Cosmodrome!

Today we’re taking a look at something one Guardian went out of their way to put together. Over on the Destiny 2 Subreddit, Kristijan1001 pulled together four images. Two of these are of the Cosmodrome from Destiny 1. The other two however, are of the same location in Destiny 2. I didn’t think there would be too much to these images, but diving deeper it’s clear that there are some things we need to explore.

There’s quite a lot to unpack in these first comparison images alone. For example, check out the lack of snow. Some Guardians are attributing this to global warming, which might be a bit much. It could also just be that in Destiny 2 the Cosmodrome is experiencing a different season, as happens in the real world.

What some Guardians have latched onto though, is the fact that this might be evidence of dynamic weather in all patrol zones in Destiny 2. We know it’s coming to Europa, so why not everywhere else? On the other hand, it could just be that Europa uses up so much snow that the game can’t support it anywhere else.

With these images it’s once again plain to see that there’s no snow. This is definitely an example of the Cosmodrome in summer or autumn. While the shadows are definitely darker, the light areas are so much lighter. I think that this is going to be a much more vibrant version of the Cosmodrome, and it’s going to throw a lot of us simply because of how beautiful it will look.

Having seen these, I’m now wondering about the secrets that have been packed into the Destiny 2 version of the Cosmodrome. If there are now some new places to explore, how quickly will we find them as a community?

Bungie has every reason to add in some new small areas to find, but they’re going to have to put in the rewards that justify the exploration as well. As long as this is made to be satisfying, I think Beyond Light will be the best Destiny expansion in history.

What do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts on these images and their comparison in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
