How to Get Ager's Scepter in Destiny 2

Deceiving Appearances is one of the weekly challenges in Destiny 2 Season of the Lost. It’s one that most Guardians have been a bit stuck on because not only do you need Ager’s Scepter to complete it, you need Ager’s Scepter’s Exotic Catalyst. This guide explains how you can complete the challenge and what you need to do. If you’re hoping to complete it quickly, this is the information you need.

How to complete Deceiving Appearances

Before we get into the weekly challenge, we recommend that you go out and complete the Wayfinder’s Voyage week five challenge and select the Sight: Frequency Echoes upgrade from the H.E.L.M. Now, onto the challenge itself.

To complete Deceiving Appearances you need to destroy Illusuory Barriers. These are rocks that look like they’re coated in something purple. You can only destroy them with Ager’s Scepter, hence why you need this weapon. Once you shoot them, they’ll glow white to indicate that they’ve been destroyed.

The Illusory Barriers are in the Shattered Realm. You get there through The Dreaming City, so you’ll have to explore the area thoroughly to find all three. We’ve got the rough locations for each, so read below to see if you can find the one you’re missing.

  • One Illusuory Barrier is in a cave to your left as you enter The Ruined Outpost. There’s an Ascendant Anchor behind it, which is important for all sorts of things this season, so pick it up.
  • Another one is in the main area with all the destroyed buildings. Look up at the moon and you’ll see a small path. go down there and you’ll find the second barrier to destroy.
  • The last one is in another cave, which you can see from that first cave if you got to the entrance and look up at the moon once more. Go inside until you reach a barrier, then turn around and look up. You can see the last barrier you need to destroy above you.

Destroy all of these and you complete the challenge and get a lovely bit of experience to add to your season pass. Let us know how you get on with the challenge in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
