How About That New Cutscene?

Earlier in the week Guardians got a new cutscene when heading to orbit. It’s an interesting one, and something that you won’t clock eyes on until you head to orbit, so make sure you do because it’s pretty damn impressive. Well, I suppose if you’ve not seen it by this point you could always take a look below and watch it there.

Light and Darkness

Recently we reported on the dialogue that was found for this cutscene, named as the last missing one for Season of Dawn. Within this datamine came the news that next season is called Season of the Worthy, so it was always a sure thing that these words would be spoken.

Many Guardians actually speculated that Osiris was talking to Rasputin here. Unfortunately Rasputin has always been a questionable character, with mysterious intentions for the future of the system. We’ve always been wary of it, and now we know that it could be the first evil entity we face off against in the game.

Osiris talks about a line between light and dark being drawn. He means one of two things. First, Osiris may have seen the coming darkness, the creatures that we meet at the end of the Shadowkeep campaign. These guys look like they’ll be trouble, and definitely sit on the evil side of the line.

Osiris may also have seen Rasputin do something that needs to be stopped. He is brandishing a weapon at Rasputin’s control panel after all. Rasputin could be siding with the coming evil, but it may also have its own brand of evil planned for the system.

Rasputin was brought back to life at the end of the Warmind DLC. The chamber where its mainframe lies is one of the weirdest areas in the game, and it’s always been one of those parts of Destiny 2 lore that’s just been shrouded in mystery.

I loved Warmind, and would love to see some content in Season of the Worthy that brings back elements from that DLC. There are theories that Escalation Protocol is going to form the base of a brand new PVE activity, but we’ll just have to wait and see if that turns out to be true.

Let us know your thoughts on the cutscene in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
