Last week Bungie surprised quite a few Guardians by announcing that the Guardian Games would begin this week, on the 21st of April. As of tomorrow’s reset we’ll have until the 11th of May to make the most of the new timed event, and earn the new Exotic.

Let The Games Begin

As you’ve probably guessed, the Guardian Games pit Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans against one another for glory over the Tower. A scoreboard will be raised, and a clock will begin ticking down the time until the end of the Guardian Games.

The class that comes out on top will have some sort of permanent fixture in the Tower for the rest of the year. Bungie hasn’t explained what it is, but it will be more significant than the changes that come with each season.

The way the scoring will work is that Guardians will need to take on challenges from Eva Levante. These will add points to the scoreboard, and that will be how a class can reign supreme.

There are a few different cosmetic rewards for Guardian Games, some of which are Exotic, but none of them are better than Heir Apparent. This Exotic Machine Gun is basically a Guardian’s version of the Cabal Slug Thrower, which Forbes believe will shield you once spooled up.

While The Revelry has been forgotten, it seems as though we’ll be returning to The Verdant Forest for the challenges this year. We’re not sure how this will work, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

For now that’s really all there is to know about Guardian Games. They feel like they were meant to help get you excited for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but now those won’t be happening until next year.

Ultimately, this is just another great reason to stay indoors and play games. While streamers like Gladd might be exhausted with the content on offer, there are plenty of us who aren’t. Time limited Exotic items are some of the best things in Destiny 2, and I love trying to earn as many of them as I possibly can.

Something else to bear in mind, this is a great reason to play Destiny 2 and progress through the current season’s Season Pass. You won’t need to do the same old activities each day, so you can really take advantage of all of the extra stuff to do.

Let us know what you think of Guardian Games in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
