Why not Telesto?

For Once, Telesto Didn't Break Destiny 2 This Weekend

Over the weekend, it can’t have escaped you that Destiny 2 had a couple of issues. First was the fact that Bungie Help canceled the scheduled maintenance, but didn’t initially say why. I and pretty much every Guardian out there thought that this was hilarious because it was so obviously Telesto again, but Bungie then actually came out and told us what was going on. For once, Telesto didn’t break anything.

No, this weekend just passed, Destiny 2 fell prey to a Hunter Exotic called Raiju’s Harness. There was a glitch on the Exotic that allowed Hunters to pull their Arcstrider Super, block, and then keep that blocking effect going no matter what. Even riding a Sparrow and blocking or using your Super again wouldn’t stop it. The only thing that killed it was respawning, and that could only happen in two circumstances, dying in a Grandmaster Nightfall, or spawning on a teammate.

The Intrinsic Perk on Raiju’s Harness, Mobius Conduit, makes your guard or block work without consuming any Super energy. It also provides early deactivation for Whirlwind Guard, but we’re not concerned about that right now. The glitch occurs here when you dodge backwards with about half or a quarter of your grenade energy. This forces the blocking power of the super to stay active forever, and then you’re immune to all damage.

In PvP and Gambit, this was a real issue. However, Bungie seems to have removed the Exotic from use pretty quickly, making everything fair once again. For once, an Exotic completely screwed things up in Destiny 2, potentially ruining Trials of Osiris, and it had nothing to do with Telesto.

Still, this didn’t stop every Guardian on Twitter from getting Telesto to trend, just because we all assumed Telesto had broken something. Really, this should be a lesson to us all that not everything is Telesto’s fault, but we can’t help assuming it when it’s usually true.

Tell us in the comments if Raiju’s Harness being removed ruined your weekend. While it was the source of a glitch, not all of you will have been running with it for that reason, so tell us if the removal of this Exotic broke your build in other ways or just made you mad.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
