Will Trials Of Osiris Be Disabled In Destiny 2 Again This Week?

Is Bungie going to take it down yet again?

Trials Of Osiris Still Isn't In A Good Place In Destiny 2

Last week, Bungie ripped Trials of Osiris out of Destiny 2 once again. They explained that this was due to a Fireteam rejoin functionality issue, which I reckon is also present in Showdown in the Crucible. This marks another consecutive week without any sort of Trials experience to speak of, and it’s getting a bit ridiculous. Now, we’re wondering if the game mode will reappear this week, only to be taken down again. Or if Bungie will do the sensible thing and just keep it out until they’ve sorted this particular problem.

Fireteam Rejoin Issue

This issue is actually something that I think I’ve found in the Showdown Crucible mode as well. It’s super annoying and takes away experience and progress that should rightfully be awarded to Guardians. If this issue is doing the same thing in Trials, then it’s probably removing any sort of chance of getting a successful win.

The issue seems to award everything but progression and wins. That means that your overall win tracking won’t update, and you get no experience for the match. You may as well have visited a patrol zone and left your controller for 10 minutes while you made a cup of tea. This definitely needs to be fixed, and if it’s still an issue right now, Trials of Osiris shouldn’t go live this week.

Match Fixing

Match-fixing in Trials of Osiris has been called win trading in the past. Essentially, this practice sees Guardians set up their Fireteam with two Emblems and play through Trials until they get a flawless victory. It’s the most common way to win, with about 50% of all wins being tracked to win trading, supposedly.

I think win trading is a good way to keep the odds fair in Trials. You’re never guaranteed a win, but if you end up picking the right side of the coin flip, then you do, of course, get your win. It’s not how the game mode was designed to be used, but it is fair.

This type of match fixing couldn’t be removed even if Bungie only held live tournaments and watched Guardians like hawks. You can pre-arrange anything using Emblems and decide the victor long in advance of the match. It would be even more open to match fixing then than it is now.

At this point, Bungie needs to give up on trying to work around all of this nonsense in Trials. They need to make a better pinnacle PvP activity, or work on a PvE one. As I and many Guardians say, bringing back Prison of Elders and restricting rewards to that would be a far better way of awarding the best gear in the game.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
