Wish 15 Could Save Saint-14

One Guardian thinks they’ve figured out both how Saint-14 will remain in our current timeline after the end of Destiny 2 Season of Dawn, and what Wish 15 is, or at least what it does.

As originally reported by GameRant, a Destiny 2 Reddit user named NeonAttak has come up with a theory about the 15th Wish from the Last Wish raid. This is a wish that Riven has been hinting about for quite some time now, teasing Guardians with a piece of lore that’s just out of their reach. Well that wish could come into play soon, and this theory suggests that it will allow Saint-14 to stay in our timeline permanently.

Why?

Season of the Undying didn’t leave a lasting mark in the world of Destiny 2, apart from the now defunct portal over by Ikora, so why would Season of Dawn be different? Well Bungie is escalating things. They’ve added Obelisks all around the system for Guardians to activate, and those Obelisks will probably be sticking around for the foreseeable future, unless something crazy happens to destroy the Sundial.

However, the main reason that Bungie looks like they’re trying to keep Saint-14 here is because of the effort they’ve made to house him in the Tower. The guy has a lot of dialogue, some of which is only there for a single instance, which is a lot of work for an NPC that’s going to disappear and never be used again. Of course, Saint-14 could come back in the future, but then why create such a huge space to house him? Eva Levante has her own pop-up shop, but not an entire area of the Tower for each time she returns.

Saint-14 is also surrounded by Trials symbolism, which many have taken to mean that he’s going to be the new vendor for the hardcore PVP activity. Bungie has hinted that this mode will be coming back, though they’ve said that their focus right now is PVP in general. If Trials is coming back next season, then it stands to reason that Saint-14 would be the vendor, because he’ll just be standing around being useless otherwise.

I reckon that the Sundial will be absorbed by time, or something else crazy, at the end of Season of Dawn, and that will destroy all the Obelisks. What that won’t do is kill Saint-14, because of something we do, or because of Wish 15. This leaves the door open for next season to be all about Guardians fighting other Guardians, which is why Trials needs to return. Saint-14 will be responsible for training up Guardians to take on a superior threat, like the vision of ourselves we see at the end of Shadowkeep.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.

I love the thought of Saibt-14 being the vendor for Trials, the harcore pvp mode. It could also lead up to in the future, shaxx and Saint-14 having a rivalry with each other. Attacker vs. Defender. Thus could potentially lead to an all new game mode that’s never been thought of before and you’ll have to choose sides. Not like in season of the drifter, but with a little more freedom. Like you could choose to be a defender with Saint-14 until you see fit, and swap to join Shaxx for a while. Almost like you’re in a clan or allegiance with them.
