What Other Type Of Media Do You Want For Destiny 2?

Bungie has recently revealed that it’s expanding its HQ. This is to allow for more staff to join the company, work on new games outside of the Destiny universe, but also further develop Destiny 2 and the wider Destiny universe as a whole. As part of this, the developer is exploring other types of media, and where it could take Destiny. My question is what other types of media do Guardians actually want from Destiny?

Books

I think that a series of books in the Destiny universe would be perfect. We’ve already got a few official lore releases from Bungie anyway, so why not have some novels too? I love reading about the universes I love playing games in. Sure, it’s nice to read the main story and get some additional details, but brand new stories are so much better. This would be a great way for Bungie to develop certain characters, and even add new ones that they can use in the game in three or four years.

Off the back of this, I think that audiobooks would also be incredible. People love podcasts and audiobooks, so why not create an official series of them for fans and newcomers to enjoy?

Movies/TV

This is a much tougher nut to crack. There are so many good movies and TV shows out there that Bungie has the bar set pretty high for them when creating one from scratch. I’d say that their best bet is a series of animated shorts or an anime. However, I also think that a movie set in the Destiny universe with real actors like Nathan Fillion would be fantastic. If Bungie secured him, they’d easily make back everything they spent on whatever they ended up making.

Board Games

There’s a huge market for board games, and there’s actually already a great one for Destiny in the form of Dungeons and Destiny. If Bungie could create something that would be fun to play and is worth buying, then they could definitely expand the wider Destiny universe. They could even release expansions that add to the universe with main game expansions.

Other Types Of Game

This is really a catch all for Bungie doing whatever they want within the gaming space with Destiny. CD Projekt Red saw some success when they created spin-off Witcher games like Gwent, so why not do something similar with Destiny? It might take some research, but making something akin to a card game or serious RPG within the Destiny universe could offer the diversity needed to capture a whole new market of Guardians.
