Don’t Take Launch Day Off To Play Destiny 2 Beyond Light

Please, whatever you do, don’t have the day off tomorrow.

Don't Take Launch Day Off To Play Destiny 2 Beyond Light

Tomorrow Destiny 2 Beyond Light launches across all platforms. Whilst it won’t be available on PlayStation 5 until the console launches a little later down the line, it will be available on Xbox Series X and S. Making it a next-gen launch game. It’s a very exciting concept, and of course, taking the day off to play it would normally be a great idea. However, as a Guardian who has taken launch days off from work to play through all of the new Destiny content before, I recommend you don’t take tomorrow off. Instead, wait until Wednesday November 11, 2020.

Why Shouldn’t You Take Launch Day Off?

There are two very good reasons for not taking launch day off for any Destiny 2 expansion. The first is simply timing. I know that in parts of the US, you’ll be able to play Beyond Light pretty early in the day. However, in the UK the reset time is in the evening, so you may as well get a full day of work out of the way because you won’t be playing it any sooner.

The second reason not to take November 10 off to play Beyond Light is much more valid. The day will be a mess for the servers. Every time I’ve played an expansion on launch day, the servers have been awful. I’ve found it difficult to get into PVP games, match with strikes, and even just get a stable connection. There are too many Guardians playing the game at once.

If you wait a day or so, the hype will have calmed down, and you’ll be able to play without encountering connection issues. I can honestly say that these issues are the bane of my life when covering the expansions. So many Guardians are out there clogging up the servers that it makes it impossible to take in what you’re playing.

I think this is the same for most Guardians. Yes, we want to smash through the Power Level cap as fast as possible, but we also want to enjoy the new worlds that Bungie has created for us. If we’re constantly battling connection issues, we can’t enjoy any of it.

November 11, 2020, is the only day you should be taking off to play Destiny 2 Beyond Light. Not only will there be an influx of Guardians thanks to the expansion, but there will be more Guardians joining from the launch of the Xbox Series X and S as well.

Don’t get caught out. Let me know if you’re taking November 11, or another day, off to play the expansion in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
