Does The 12 Guardian Fireteam Glitch In Destiny 2 Identify A Gap In Content?

If you haven’t heard of a 12 Guardian raid, that’s okay. A glitch has been found in the past couple of weeks that is now slowly blowing up among the Destiny 2 community. Guardians are using it to their advantage, but not to make raids easier. Instead, they’re just having a great time with a larger group of friends.

So in raids, you can use this glitch to get between 7 and 12 Guardians together, or between 4 and 9 Guardians in a Nightfall Strike. Those numbers are absolutely bonkers, but in a good way. Unfortunately, the glitch is definitely on its way out. As you can see below, Bungie are acutely aware of it.

Here’s the thing though, I think this identifies a big gap in the content Bungie is putting out into their game. The fact that it’s possible at all shows that Bungie isn’t aware of how powerful their matchmaking and servers can be. If they were, they’d probably implement this in full.

While the added firepower in all actives does make them a doddle to complete, it’s not like they’re that hard anymore. Bungie has dropped the difficulty in raids and Nightfalls over the last few years, with good reason. Now they’re more enjoyable and less rage-inducing.

With 12 Guardians together, all you’ve got here is a recipe for a good time. I don’t think anyone, apart from those specific Guardians with an incredibly high IQ, wants 12 Guardian challenges. Instead, I think we all just want to be able to obliterate enemies like a knife through butter.

What these raids resemble are the stories that Cayde-6 told. He used to go on about smashing through waves of enemies like they were nothing, and here we can do just that. I think that this glitch should be used to allow Guardians to relive the moments of the Golden Age.

Think about it. How cool would it be to play through epic battles against endless hordes in memory of some of the finest moments from Destiny lore history? If nothing else, it would be fantastic to fight alongside Cayde-6 again. I think this is the perfect excuse for Bungie to let us do exactly that.
