The Epilogue event for Destiny 2 Season of the Spliver is now live, and it’s all a bit crazy to be honest. The Vex have been allowed into The Last City, beaten back, and now it looks like Osiris did it but also killed the person who instigated the event, Lakshmi-2. If that sounds confusing, then you’re right. There’s a lot of weird stuff going on here, and nothing is clear. The one question all Guardians keep asking is whether Osiris is Osiris right now, or if he’s Savathun.
Let’s clear some stuff up. Osiris is a Guardian who spent a massive chunk of time in the Infinite Forest, a place where the Vex explore infinite possibilities until they find one that leads to universal domination. He’s been lost in that place for so long that he’s experienced death a million times over. He’s also come out of that place to rejoin Guardian society though, and he’s been a pretty key part of the Vanguard for a while now.
Savathun is the Hive god of trickery. It’s difficult to say exactly what she’s been up to, but we do know that she was behind everything in The Dreaming City. She enslaved Riven of a Thousand Voices, an Ahamkara that, in turn, enslaved Prince Uldren, and is behind all the terrible stuff that’s been going on around that location for some time now.
It’s Savathun who is the next logical enemy for Guardians to face. First, we killed Crota, then we killed his dad, Oryx. Now, Savathun is pissed about this genocide we’ve been inflicting upon all Hive kind, and has been slowly laying the groundwork for her arrival. The Witch Queen will follow her attempts at destroying all Guardians and taking the Traveler. It’s down to us to stop her.
Osiris is a key character, and he’s one that’s open to suggestion. He’s never followed the Vanguard to the letter, and was exiled for his questionable methods. Now, it looks like Savathun has used his intentions as a way to control him, taking him over and messing everything up for The Last City.
Savathun will want Guardians to be dealing with disarray when she arrives. That means a coup, Guardians divided and scattered. It’ll be easy for an army of Hive to slip in then and start messing everything up once more.
Let us know if you think Osiris is who he’s always been, or if he’s Savathun, in the comments.
