How Different Is Destiny 2 Forsaken Iron Banner?

Iron Banner is now live, and it’s the first time the limited time event has been out since Forsaken released. But what are the differences in Iron Banner now that Forsaken is out? What’s changed and what do you need to be aware of to make the most of the time you spend competing in it? Let’s dive in and take a look at the changes.

Firstly, you need to be aware that your Power Level matters now. This means that the higher your Power Level is, the more damage you’ll be doing. Equally, the lower your Power Level, the more damage you’ll take from those of a higher level than yourself.

So what does this mean for you? Well now you need to be bringing the best weapons and armour, in terms of Power Level, that you have into the Iron Banner. Before I would always opt for my trusty Lincoln Green, a weapon I’m great with but one that was never the highest Power Level I had. While skill will always give you an advantage, now more than ever you’re going to be punished for not having that latest weapon you picked up, even if you don’t like it. Thanks to the new weapon system you might be able to avoid this, but trust me when I say you’ll be up against some serious competition now that The Dreaming City has been completed.

The next thing you need to know about is the bounties that Lord Saladin has for you. These work in the same way as the other bounties you can pick up, but they’re specific to the Iron Banner. You need to complete these while Iron Banner is live or they’ll disappear and count for nothing, so get on it once you have them. Each one will drop gear, and two drop very powerful gear that will further your pursuit of a higher Power Level.

Any Iron Banner Tokens you have can be cashed in, but make sure you do it because you might miss out on some epic gear if you hold back.

Finally, Lord Saladin will have armour and two weapons up for grabs, if you’ve got the currency. These generally won’t be at your Power Level and will come in a little under. However, Iron Banner weapons, in my opinion, are some of the most balanced and fun to use. So if you’re after something new to take into the battlefield you might want to pick it up here.

Those are the updates to Iron Banner for Season 4 and for the first time since Forsaken has released. Let us know how you get on in the comments, and let us know what you think of it too.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
