How About Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer’s Epilogue Launch?

What the heck is going on here?

How About Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer's Epilogue Launch?

In case you missed it, the Epilogue for Season of the Splicer in Destiny 2 is now live. It dropped with the weekly reset, and completed confirmed a huge swathe of fan theories that have been floating around since the start of this season. I won’t spoil it too much here, but I am going to discuss some key parts of it. If you’ve yet to play through the new mission, please go and do so and then come back.

So a new mission went live last night, and it’s the beginning of the end for this season. Lakshmi-2 rears her head again and explains that she’s worked with someone on the inside to let the Vex into The Last City. They’re there to kill the Eliksni because of racism or something. This is obviously terrible news because the Vex will kill anyone in The Last City, not just Eliksni, so the Guardians all band together to beat them back and stop the invasion.

Over the course of the mission, you’ll stop the invasion and get a really cool cutscene as well. It shows Saint-14 working with the Eliksni, redeeming himself somewhat in their eyes. Even Ikora jumps into battle with a Nova Blast, and does some superman style flying into the invading army while blowing them apart.

All the while, Osiris has been noticeably absent. However, he does show up in this closing scene to watch on as the Vex are destroyed. It’s thought that he’s the one with whom Lakshmi-2 worked to let the Vex in. At some point though, she’s killed. Guardians reckon that Osiris killed her, because she trusted him.

The big twist here is that most Guardians are convinced that Osiris is actually Savathun. This wouldn’t be the first time that someone hasn’t been all that they appeared to be. Given that Osiris has spent multiple lifetimes fighting the Vex off, he probably wouldn’t give in now and let them into the last safe community in the system.

I’m not convinced about Osiris myself. I think he might just have gone bad because he’s pretty old and mad from all the time travel he’s been doing. We won’t know for sure until The Witch Queen reveal on August 24. Even then though, I suspect there will be some secrets we won’t understand until next season.

Let us know what you thought of this absolute madness in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
