Festival Of The Lost Returns This Month

Bungie have announced the return of something spectacularly spooky this month, the Festival of the Lost. If you’re unfamiliar with this live event then don’t worry, it’s changed every year it’s been around so this year will be no different, in a way.

In previous years the vendors throughout the Tower gave us Guardians gifts, and we then had the ability to collect more and give them gifts in return. Eris Morn gave us Celery and Raisins, and if you’ve got anything that doesn’t seem to have a use in your inventory I’d save it for her, she loves that stuff.

This year we do have a couple of details about what’s going to happen in the Festival. We know it’s going to start on October 16th, and will bring with it a new challenge to tackle.

Previously challenges have been focused around completing certain activities with paper masks of the various vendors on, but those purely resulted in cosmetic items. With all of the changes Bungie have made to Destiny 2 with Forsaken I believe that this year we’ll be able to get meaningful items from the Festival of the Lost. Whether these come in the form of new Ornaments for weapons and armour or actual Exotics is anyone’s guess.

The next thing we know for certain about this festival is that there’s a costume party. Whatever this is it almost certainly has something to do with a whole new set of cosmetic items we can earn. If there’s a similar mechanic to the last time this was implemented then we probably have a limited time to get specific cosmetic items and then a date when we’ll have to wear them in order to receive a reward. Whether this will tie into the community as a whole isn’t clear, but it would be amazing if Bungie awarded specific Guardians for the things they were wearing.

Finally we know that the whole event ends with a murder mystery. Who dies? We have no idea, but I’m sure it’ll either be someone like Eris Morn, who everyone would love to see get a final end, or it’ll be a bit of a joke and someone such as Lord Shaxx will be playing an epic prank on us all. Let us know what you think in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
