Destiny 3 Rumours Surface

destiny-3

Rumours have started to surface regarding Destiny 3, and the fact that Bungie may already have begun working on it. According to Reddit user AnonTheNine, who had something to do with the recent uncovering of files relating to Thunderlord in Destiny 2, has shared details about Destiny 3 that they believe to be real.

AnonTheNine revealed that they think next year’s content releases for Destiny 2 will resemble this year’s, with a couple of smaller DLCs and a huge expansion in September.

Destiny 3 however is in early development, if any work has begun on it at all that isn’t just conceptual. What is known by AnonTheNine is that Destiny 3 is going to be an even larger step towards hardcore RPG elements in the Destiny universe. Destiny 2 Forsaken was a big step towards a more immersive and involving MMORPG, but Destiny 3 is going to take it even further.

What the deeper RPG elements include isn’t discussed, but it may well mean that gear will have further stats that allow you to min/max your characters to an even greater degree.

AnonTheNine goes on to say that the class and subclasses will be expanded. Forsaken already built upon the current Subclasses with three new ones for each Class, but in Destiny 3 there will apparently be a Class focused on the power of the Darkness. This power is the great evil that seeks to destroy the Traveller, and the fact that Guardians will be able to use it for their will suggests that there are anti-Guardians on the way. The only thing that I can think of is that the Darkness has the same power as the Traveller to produce Ghosts, and resurrect people whilst also granting them powers.

The game mode of Gambit will be taken even further in Destiny 3 as well. There will supposedly be a PVEVP mode which will feature areas where Guardians will fight for territory against other Guardians, but also against AI enemies.

Finally, a new area that’s meant to be part of Destiny 3 is Europa, a moon of Jupiter. The interesting thing is that this moon is meant to be made entirely of ice, with a sea of liquid deep at its centre thanks to an orbit which squashes it at a certain point every time it completes a transition of Jupiter. It would be interesting to see if any sort of life has been created on Europa as a result of the Traveller passing through. Let us know what you think in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.

Great read, what I would like to see personally would be more usage from our ships. Think Halo 3 and the space mission where we fight the covenant, only with Destiny maybe fight those huge triangle ships that yell Savathun and eventually fight our way through to board a few main ones then hop back to our ships to continue the aerial dogfight!
Just saying that’s be kinda nice ?

Arial dogfights were a rumour for Destiny 2 I believe. Sadly that didn’t come to fruition. I think maybe 80 percent of the community is going to be with you on this one.

“What the deeper RPG elements include isn’t discussed, but it may well mean that gear will have further stats that allow you to min/max your characters to an even greater degree.”

Does the author not play RPGs or has played one and totally missed the point of them? RPGs are supposed to be story-centric and driven, with significant, meaningful plots, and multiple ways of interaction through the player character to NPCs.
