Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2021 Soltice Package Drop Rate Analysis

What exactly are you able to get from these?

Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2021 Soltice Package Drop Rate Analysis

Solstice of Heroes 2021 hasn’t been an absolute disaster in Destiny 2. Usually, Guardians like to kick off about the event being too similar to previous years, but enough changes have been implemented that this year’s event actually feels new and enjoyable again. There’s a lot to do and so much to earn if you’re one of those Guardians who likes to earn new loot. On top of the Solstice of Heroes armor, which can be upgraded and Masterworked, there’s a new shotgun to earn.

A key part of this event is Solstice Packages. These are basically in-game loot boxes you open for in-game rewards, and they’re a nice little thing to pick up as you go through everything right now. However, what are the stats behind these boxes, and what can you get from them? Well, one Guardian by the name of TheAnduric on Reddit has done the hard work for us. They’ve opened 500 Solstice Packages with a whopping 7,500 Key Fragments to bring us the answers we want. What follows are the drop rates from those 500 boxes.

  • Blue Gear – 417
  • Legendary Gear – 92
  • Solstice Armor – 78
  • Solstice Shotgun – 63
  • Enhancement Cores – 194
  • Enhancement Prisms – 2
  • Upgrade Modules – 10
  • Legendary Shards – 99
  • Planetary Materials – 1460

I don’t know about you, but none of this surprises me. There’s a fairly poor drop rate for the Solstice shotgun, but a huge preference for rare gear dropping. This is something that’s common across all of Destiny 2 though, so I don’t think we should expect anything different here.

The planetary materials are so abundant that it feels unnecessary. Bungie needs to drop those in favor of something else. The number of enhancement items dropping is tellingly low. This is reflective of the business model driving Destiny 2. Bungie wants to monetize the parts of the game that allow us to hit the peak of the player base. While this is their right since they made the game, making it a little bit easier than is reflected here would be nice.

I’m quite shocked that any Solstice armor is dropping at all. Guardians should be picking this up and working on it by themselves. I know that’s not always how it works, but it was in the early days of Destiny 2, and I felt like it worked rather well. What’s the point of this armor dropping if we’re all getting it anyway?

Let us know what you think of the drop rates here in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
