Destiny 2 Could be Getting a Halo Crossover Event
This comes from the same source as the Vapour element leak.
Last week you might remember that the big Destiny 2 news, apart from all the changes in Bungie’s update, was Vapour. This came from a huge leaked document that dataminers over on Raid Secrets had found, and was listed as a new element. This makes sense for The Witch Queen expansion, but Guardians hadn’t picked up much on the other stuff in the document until now. The latest item of interest actually relates to Bungie’s older franchise, which now rests with 343 Industries, Halo.
That’s right, apparently, there’s going to be a Halo crossover event, or at least some sort of crossover with Halo, in Destiny 2 in the future. This makes a lot of sense. Bungie is, after all, the company that created the Halo franchise. We’ve already got an Exotic that looks and works a little bit like a Needler, so why not go even further and have some serious Halo references in there? Well, it sounds like Bungie is planning on doing that and a bit more later this year.
The idea is that it’s now been eleven years since Bungie first launched the colossal shooter icon that is Halo. Since Bungie moved away from Microsoft, it’s been hard at work on Destiny, and now it’s working on yet another franchise.
The crossover will allegedly be part of Bungie’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The event will celebrate everything that the company has done in that time. Naturally, it, therefore, needs to include at least a tiny mention of Halo, the franchise that put the developer on the map. According to the data that’s been leaked, a new dungeon will be added to Destiny 2 that contains a tonne of returning Destiny 1 content. Among the weapons on offer from this dungeon will be a tonne of Exotic weapons that Guardians are after, as well as several tie-ins that relate to Bungie’s past.
The word is that Bungie wants the classic Magnum that we all know and love from Halo to be the Exotic that transfers over to Destiny 2. I can see Master Chief somehow blurring into our dimension, but that’s a story that Bungie needs to okay with Microsoft and 343 Industries.
Let us know what you think of these leaks and what they could mean for the future of Destiny 2.
