Bungie Releases Season Of The Worthy Gameplay Preview

bungie has just released a new video. Mere hours ahead of the launch of Season of the Worthy, we now have a brand new gameplay preview video, and it’s awesome. We may be able to play the new season a little later on today, but this video should tide you over if you can’t even wait that long.

Last Resort

The Cabal have nothing left, so they’re bombing the Last City on Earth with a space station. That’s their plan at least. We already know most of the information in this video, how we’ll be working with Rasputin, how we’ll be pushed with a new difficulty level, and how Trials of Osiris is coming back. However, there are a couple of points that are new which I wanted to cover.

Tommy’s Matchbook

This is the new Exotic weapon that’s been revealed for Season of the Worthy. It’s described as a gangster’s tommy gun, something that you use to spray the enemy with bullets with little regard for anyone’s safety. Interestingly the developers hint that the weapon could harm you as well, or possibly just surrounding Guardians. I think that would be a really interesting weapon to use in multiplayer activities, because it would add a layer of complexity to Strikes, Raids, and PVP that isn’t there right now.

Imagine if you used the weapon incorrectly and ended up getting yourself killed by it. In a Strike that could result in a wipe, or your fellow Guardians having to wait around and revive you. The same goes for Raids. In PVP it’s even more dangerous. You could be neck and neck with the enemy team, but if you end up adding a point to their score because of Tommy’s Matchbook, then your team loses regardless of how good you are.

Rasputin’s Bunkers

Rasputin’s bunkers have opened, at least some of them have. We’ll be delving into them in order to clear out enemies and power up some serious weaponry, but we don’t know what that is yet. We can see some massive Rasputin-themed robots stomping around in the video. I think those must have something to do with the weapon that Rasputin will use to save the Last City this season. Hopefully we get to see a giant robot reach up and flick the space station out of space and into the sun.
