Why You Should Definitely Play Iron Banner This Weekend
In case you missed it the Iron Banner is back this week, and regardless of the reason I’m about to go into it is well worth getting involved in. This is the peak of the PVP experience in Destiny 2, and if you want to really show off your armour and weapons against others then this is your holy grail.
The real reason I’m telling you to spend some hours in the Iron Banner this weekend is because of Moments of Triumph. You may have seen Bungie reveal the upcoming event, Solstice of Heroes, which will add Moments of Triumph to Destiny 2 for a limited time. During this time you need to accomplish tasks, which will be fully revealed later by Bungie, in order to earn Triumph Points. As you get more Points you’ll be able to earn more rewards from the event, with the maximum obviously being the best and Exotic gear. There’s also a t-shirt in there somewhere.
Part of Moments of Triumph, earning you 20 Triumph Points, is reaching rank 50 as Vanguard, and rank 3 in the Crucible Valour rank. Here’s the thing, Iron Banner doesn’t earn you either of these, and that sucks, but not all of the tasks for the event have been revealed yet.
I think that there’s definitely going to be an achievement related to your Iron Banner rank, and if you don’t start adding to that for Season 3 now then you’re going to miss out on a good opportunity.
If you don’t normally play Iron Banner but have done everything else you can out there to help earn points now, then you need to get on this because you’ll kick yourself later if you don’t. The Iron Banner rank goes up with wins and losses, making it much easier to reach Rank 50 than with other ranks that lose points as you lose more objectives.
Iron Banner also has a lot of great loot up for grabs, and there is some argument to say that regardless of events, Iron Banner will award all loot. To be honest I believe this because I’ve earned Crimson Days loot from it, but that could just be one glitch. Either way, this is too good a chance to miss out on. Load up Destiny 2 when you get home and don’t stop playing Iron Banner unless you physically have no choice. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
