What Could The Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2021 Closing Ceremony be?

This weekend sees the start of the Closing Ceremony for the Guardian Games 2021. I could say that it’s all to play for, but by now it’s basically been decided. Instead, I wanted to go through some of the things that we might be able to see as part of this event. After all, it leads up to the end of the current season, so why wouldn’t there be something good happening in the final few days?

The Winning Class

Of course, the whole reason for this ceremony is to crown the victorious class. I’m not going to speculate in case Bungie is holding back numbers or something stupid, but whatever the winning class is today will probably still be winning tomorrow. Therefore, they’ll probably be the overall winners.

The winners need to be crowned, even if they aren’t Hunters. It’ll be nice to see the statue get placed in the Tower, but after that, there’s very little reason to pay attention to the event. At least that’s what Bungie wants you to think.

Cabal in the Tower

The ultimate culmination of every storyline in Destiny 2 to date would all be worth it if, as part of this ceremony, Guardians and Cabal came together in the Tower. Zavala could invite the Cabal that we’ve got a temporary peace in place with, and everyone could put their weapons down for a moment and celebrate.

Something that Destiny 2 hasn’t done well is showing what each race does when it’s happy. We just get their bad sides. Let’s see the Cabal celebrating alongside Guardians on Earth, and let’s see some of their customs. I think that it’s so interesting to learn about these alien races by speaking with them, so a vendor or explanation for each thing the Cabal are doing would be nice.

Ultimately though, I think we all need to remember that Bungie has an end of season even to kick off. This might be May 10 or May 11, we’ll find out in today’s This Week At bungie I’m sure. This is something that Guardians always come together for, and it should be a pretty great time.
