How to get Laurels in Destiny 2 for Guardian Games 2021

Laurels are a key part of the Guardian Games, and this year it’s more important than ever that everyone knows how to earn them. That’s why we’ve put together this little guide which explains all the methods through which you can earn these items. Use all of them to help you get to the top of the table, and support your class.

Wear the Class Item

You’ll pick up a class item for this year’s Guardian Games. If you want to have a decent chance of earning Laurels, then you need to have it equipped at all times. This will allow you to generate Laurels from kills. Without it, you can only pick up the Laurels other Guardians drop.

Play With Your Class

On the note of other Guardians dropping Laurels, you can pick them up from all classes. However, you’ll earn more from those dropped by your own class. That’s why it’s important to use the Daily Focus Playlist and Guardian Games Strike Playlist. These put you into activities with your own class, making it possible to earn more Laurels per activity. Of course, you’re still free to do what you want, but this is the most lucrative way to get Laurels for your cause.

Eva Levante

The last method for earning Laurels comes from good old Eva Levante. She’ll offer bounties each week that award Laurels for you to collect. You might only get about ten Laurels per bounty, but you do also get a big boost of XP for the season pass. It’s a win-win situation, and awards you for playing the game how you were already planning on playing it anyway.

Laurels are completely different to Medals. Don’t get these confused, because you’ll kick yourself if you’re chasing one goal, such as Heir Apparent, but end up making progress to another, such as its Catalyst.

How are you finding the Guardian Games so far? It looks like my favourite class, Hunters, has the advantage, but that’s probably because of the way Bungie has weighted the additional experience this year. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
