Destiny 2 Operation: Guiding Light

Highlighting a small community of brand new Guardians joining us with Destiny 2: New Light.

Destiny 2 Operation- Guiding Light

Some of us have been playing Destiny since the very first alpha on PS4. Some of us have only just joined the community with Destiny 2: New Light, the free-to-play entry point to the game. We don’t care when you started playing, but some Guardians do. While a small portion of the community only wants to play with the best of the best, there are more of us who want to help each other grow. Today I’m highlighting one community that is going above and beyond to nurture new Guardians and help them join the community, Operation: Guiding Light.

What Is Destiny 2 Operation: Guiding Light?

This isn’t some mad group of Guardians who are fixing up blueberries with experienced fireteams, it’s an entire community for brand new Guardians. To be specific, it’s a separate Subreddit to the main r/DestinyTheGame one. This one is r/DestinyNewLight.

As the name suggests, it’s built for those who have just started playing. It’s somewhere that new Guardians can come to ask the questions us veterans have the answers to tattooed into our grey matter. It’s also somewhere to meet new Guardians, develop friendships, and hopefully start a clan.

There are several clans popping up over on this new community. The hope is that they’ll start out small, learning the raids together, and eventually grow to the point when they can all join us in the big leagues.

I that this community exists. I’ve come across many new Guardians while playing over the years, and sometimes the stories they tell you are heartbreaking. It’s important that this community stays as positive as it is, because if it falls down, then it’ll become renowned for being toxic, as League of Legends is.

Right now, Destiny 2 is in a great place. Destiny 2: New Light is a fantastic entry point, and Destiny 2: Beyond Light is an excellent expansion that culminates in everything Guardians have been fighting towards. Now that there’s a smaller community to take you from those early days all the way to the late game, I expect we’ll start seeing a much higher caliber of Guardians as the years go by.

Let us know in the comments if you’ve had any interactions with the new community. We’d love to help you out if you’re looking for Guardians to play with.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
