Guardians have made the best new Darkness Subclass.

Corruption is a New Fan-Made Subclass Designed for Destiny 2 The Witch Queen

In the past, we’ve reported on the Guardian-made Subclasses that have done the rounds in the community. The most recent was a poison-based Subclass that’s absolutely fabulous. However, one has just risen to the top of the Destiny 2 Subreddit, and it’s insanely detailed. The Guardians behind it have pulled together everything you need for a Subclass concept, as well as in-game lore to back it up. This is what makes the difference between small fan-made additions and total overhauls that could actually make it into the game. Let’s dive in.

What is Corruption?

Corruption would be new Darkness Subclass, something Luke Smith has hinted at in the past. It’s been designed to fit with The Witch Queen expansion, though obviously it probably won’t be part of it because this is just a fan-made concept. The thing is, the Guardians behind this think it could actually fit with the expansion, and they’re sort of pitching it as the new Subclass over on Reddit now.

The idea is that Guardians were granted Stasis in order to fight against a race that was utilizing the same element to battle them. Therefore, in The Witch Queen, Guardians will be given Corruption, the source of all Hive magic, in order to battle Savathun and fight back against the impending doom.

There’s some solid in-game evidence to back this up. For example, Necrotic Grip, a new Beyond Light Exotic, has some synergy with Thorn, a weapon that lives in Corruption and encourages its use. It even has its own flavor text in the Crucible that mentioned Corruption.

Furthermore, if Stasis is a sort of mirror to Solar, then Corruption is the mirror to Arc. Arc is all about energizing electrons and bringing things to life through electricity. Corruption is about slowing down electrons and causing harm, maybe even pulling them apart into their base elements.

In terms of lore, if you decay the base element of all life on Earth, Carbon, you get Boron, which burns green like fire. Does that sound familiar?

We recommend checking this all out on Reddit for yourself because it’s absolutely brilliant. There’s a new Subclass explanation for each Class, powers, and all sorts of extra goodies. It’s a phenomenal example of how this community thinks and pulls itself together when it’s excited about something to produce incredible theories.

Let us know what you think about it in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.

Honestly, void class should be considered dark powers.
