How Good Was The 4th Horseman?

In order to dive into this weapon we need to go through the stats and perks, as we would with any other Exotic. Let’s check those out now.

Stats

  • Rate of Fire – 34
  • Impact 43
  • Range – 10
  • Stability – 85
  • Reload – 22

Hidden Stats

  • Zoom – 12
  • Inventory Size – 100
  • Equip Speed – 20
  • Aim Assistance – 80
  • Recoil Direction – 60

perks

  • Intrinsic perk: Thunderer – The 4th Horseman can be fired in full-auto mode
  • Final Round – The last round int he magazine deals bonus damage
  • Return to Sender – Any kill with The 4th Horseman has a chance to return ammo to the magazine

Competition

There are currently four other Exotic Shotguns in Destiny 2, at the time of writing at least. The 4th Horseman’s intrinsic perk allows it to be fired in full-auto, but also has a chance to return ammo to the magazine with each kill. Finally, it also deals bonus damage with the final round in the magazine, which was incredibly powerful in Destiny 1. Tractor Cannon is a bit of a gimmick, but it’s also a very powerful Shotgun, though it could be outdone by firing multiple shots in short succession with The 4th Horseman. Lord of Wolves isn’t really any competition either when it comes to sheer firepower. Legend of Acrius, with its enemy detection and high-powered blast, could be more powerful. Finally, The Chaperone could be more powerful, but only in the right hands.

Verdict

It seems like The 4th Horseman could give any Exotic Shotgun in Destiny 2 a run for tis money, but it won’t be the same when it does launch for the game. Bungie has a habit of changing how Exotics work when they shift to Destiny 2, so we might be looking at a totally different weapon. Personally I’d like to see an intrinsic perk that allows you to blow the whole magazine in one shot, opening up the ability for Guardians to spam ammo at bosses or other Guardians, but have a hefty reload speed to punish them.

Let us know what you think The 4th Horseman should look like in Destiny 2 in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
