Have You Found The Destiny 2 Beyond Light Loot Cave Yet?

Revisit the old Destiny 1 loot cave in Destiny 2 Beyond Light for a surprise!

Have You Found The Destiny 2 Beyond Light Loot Cave Yet?

As you all probably know by now, Destiny 2 Beyond Light brings back the loot cave from Destiny 1. This is the first example of some unvaulting that we’ve seen in Destiny 2. This is the process of Bungie bringing back content from somewhere int he Destiny that hasn’t been available for a few years. This, of course, means that the old loot cave is back. Have you been there yet?

Those who never played Destiny 1 probably won’t know what the loot cave is. It’s now live in the Cosmodrome, which is where most Guardians were collecting the best loot in the game in the early days of Destiny 1.

While in some MMOs this is an area that enemies can spawn in regularly for you to kill, awarding you with all kinds of fantastic loot, in Destiny 1 it was a literal cave. Fallen would spawn in the cave, and proceed to pour out of the opening. There, Guardians stood in a line and fired everything they had at the enemies. The loot was obscene, and many Guardians picked up some of the most elusive weapons from it.

This loot cave is actually now active in Destiny 2. You can find enemies spawning inside, and kill them for some decent loot. However, it’s now a super inefficient way to gather loot. You’re better off actually completing activities and playing the game.

I’ve been playing a lot of Gambit and Crucible, and in just a few matches you can earn enough loot to boost your Power Level by 10 or so if you just persevere. That is much better than the measly look allocation that this cave provides from shooting the crap out of some Fallen.

In Destiny 1, there’s actually a reference to the loot cave that’s been immortalised in this location. If you head there and look for a prompt in the back, Master Rahool will tell you that one million deaths aren’t enough.

It’s a grim reminder of the very first days of Destiny 1. The game was completely broken, and it was impossible to gain Light Levels, as they were known back then, fast enough to make it fun.

Let us know if you used the Destiny 1 loot cave in the early days, or if you head there now in Destiny 2, in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
