If you’re just into Season of the Chosen, you’ll be wondering exactly how much Cabal Gold you can earn from all the various activities in Destiny 2. This currency is essential for charging your Hammer of Proving so that you can earn extra loot at the end of every Battlegrounds run. In this guide, we’ll cover exactly how you can earn the most Cabal Gold. We’ll also just point out how much you get from various activities. It’s better to know what to play if you don’t care.
How To Earn Cabal Gold
You can pick up Cabal Gold by completing various activities. These include Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, Battlegrounds, Dungeons, and Public Events.
The most time-efficient activity is a Strike. Each completed one will earn you 14 Cabal Gold. If you’re trying to complete the weekly challenge for any of the Strike playlists, you’ll earn 42 Cabal Gold by the time you’re done. Plus a load of powerful items, hopefully.
Gambit and Crucible matches each rewards you with 8 Cabal Gold. While it’s not that efficient in terms of time, it’s a nice bonus if you’re going for the weekly challenges in these playlists as well. You can pick up a load of bounties, sit in the playlists for 5 matches, and come away with 40 Cabal Gold, loads of experience on the Season Pass, and some powerful gear.
We don’t currently have data on how much you get from Dungeons, but we believe it would be comparable to Strikes. In terms of effort, it’s not worth it. If you need an activity to grind the Cabal Gold from, choose a Strike.
Finally, we have Public Events and Battlegrounds. You’ll get 14 from Battlegrounds, so they’re worth playing if you want to make the most of the new content. With only a couple to choose from though, you might be better off choosing Strikes if you want something better to look at and play through.
Public Events are pretty worthless. They’re worth doing if that’s what you feel like doing though. You could pick up some planetary bounties and smash out the Public Events along the way. This is all part of earning powerful gear and upgrading that Season Pass.
Do note that you can only hold 42 Cabal Gold at a time. You need to be charging your Hammer of Proving and using it every time you max out your gold to make the most of the new season.

It’s really wild. I starting playing destiny at the beginning of January and I really wish I had this guide to go off of. Informative and things just make sense. I literally been confused with a lot of things since starting and still am. Overwhelming at times.
