Does Destiny 2 Need A New Endgame Difficulty

The world of Destiny 2 is alive wherever you go. It might be Fallen shooting you from the distance, a Public Event, or the plethora of activities that you can take on. There’s always something going on, but after a while there’s no denying that it can feel a little dull. One Guardian over on the Destiny 2 Subreddit has raised a query that I think is worth discussing, and it’s all about the endgame content of The Division 2.

The Guardian in question is Darth_Onaga. The posed that Destiny 2 should have a new endgame level of difficulty after Guardians complete the main campaign. In The Division 2, once you’ve done everything in the standard version of the world, a new faction invades and causes all kinds of havoc. It gives you so much more endgame to explore than any other MMO I’ve seen, and I think it’s pretty good!

Destiny 2 is obviously very different. The endgame of Destiny 2 has always been about playing through the raids, Nightfall The Ordeal, and Trials of Osiris, if you want true endgame difficulty content. However, that doesn’t leave you too much to do in the world itself. It sort of becomes redundant.

I think that if Bungie were to implement a new endgame version of each planet and moon, for those Guardians who have completed a certain campaign for example, I think it would go doen quite well.

At the very least, I think it would be good for Guardians to see a new race on a world once a raid world first race has been completed. With Deep Stone Crypt, this could have seen the Taken or Hive head to Europa. With Season of the Hunt, it makes total sense for Hive to be all over the place, but adding Taken into the mix could be part of the ongoing story for The Witch Queen.

Currently, the endgame PvE content, in terms of casual stuff across all worlds, is pretty dull once you’ve finished the story and have explored everything there is to see. bungie could learn something from that nee endgame content in The Division 2.

Think about it. With The Witch Queen, we could have an entire campaign. Then Guardians could complete the raid for the first time. After that, an entirely new race associated with the first Season of that year could descend. It would be awesome!

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
