How to Use the Small Rice Cake in Destiny 2

The Small Rice Cake is an item in Destiny 2 that was added with the Forsaken expansion. It’s an item that you’ll be using a lot on the moon, but the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining exactly what you use it for. In this guide, we’ll cover exactly how to use the Small Rice Cake, and how to make the most of it. Before you ask, no, you can’t eat it.

How to use the Small Rice Cake

The Small Rice Cake is, in fact, a treat that you give to the Jade Rabbits dotted around the moon. These are small statues that you’ll find in various locations, and they’re actually quite important for a core quest. They’re akin to the cats you’d go off to find around the Dreaming City.

If you give the Small Rice Cake to a Jade Rabbit statue, you’ll get some Phantasmal Fragments as a reward. These are then used at the Lecturn of Enchantment to create some special pieces of armor for your Guardian. They’re quite important for picking up all of the special armor from the moon, so if you want that, you need to be feeding these rabbits.

It’s up to you how you invest your Small Rice Cake. Spend it all on one statute, or spread it around, it’s your choice. The important thing to note is that this is definitely Forsaken content and not Beyond Light content. If you’re still playing through Destiny 2 and want to pick up the story after New Light, then Forsaken is your first port of call. That expansion was great, and this will help you maximize the amount of time you spend in it.

There have been other similar statues to find in every expansion since The Dreaming City was added to Destiny 2. With every new major area, Bungie seems to like to add these statutes to give us all something to chase. It’s a lovely bit of side content, but it can be a bit exhausting going off to find all of these things in every single new area.

Let us know what you use the Small Rice Cake for in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
