Heritage: the Legendary Raid Slug Shotgun

With our DPS meta for Deep Stone Crypt being a double special weapon setup, slug shotguns are king, and we need to talk about Heritage.

How to Get Heritage

The Heritage slug shotgun is tied solely to the raid, being a reward from any of the encounter chests, or you can get it for 20 Spoils of Conquest at the Taniks chest, provided you’ve gotten the gun before.

Unlike our seasonal activity, you can’t target perks that you’ll be getting on Heritage, so your rolls will be completely RNG, like most guns in the game.

While slug shotguns in the Crucible are almost entirely the Chaperone, and Heritage mostly has amazing PvE perks, we think we have a roll that you PvP players could have fun with.

PvP God Roll: Extended Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot and Snapshot Sights

PvE God Roll: Corkscrew Rifling, Assault Mag, Reconstruction, and Recombination/Thresh

Depending on what you want to use this shotgun for in PvE, that last perk will change. If you want to use it as a major killer, general use shotgun, go with Thresh for more supers. However, if you want to use it for DPS on Taniks, go with Recombination.

Using Heritage in Raids

Our DPS setup for Taniks includes us using Falling Guillotine for add clear, Heritage with Reconstruction and Recombination, and Cloudstrike. If you’d rather use Anarchy and a legendary in the energy slot, go for it.

The trick is to use your sword/Anarchy to build up stacks of Recombination, so when it’s time to use it on Taniks, you get a massive damage bonus on your first shot. Having Reconstruction also gives us a huge magazine size, pushing our DPS numbers to the heights of some of the best heavy weapons in the game.

This shotgun should remain relevant for the entire year, so long as slug shotguns are still the king. Let us know what you think of Heritage, and if you got the god roll down in the comments!

I am an avid Destiny 2 player and raider. I fell in love with the game during Forsaken and have been playing ever since. I love raiding with my friends and clanmates, and love creating content from that perspective.
