How Did You Even Come up With Telesto Armor?

How did we get to the point when we’re wearing Telesto bolts as armor?

It can’t have escaped you that Telesto did end up causing a bit of a problem over the weekend. Sure, it didn’t give Guardians an infinite blocking power like Raiju’s Harness did, but it did give Guardians armor in another unintentional way. By blasting an ally with Telesto bolts, you could effectively give them a shield that would take Golden Gun shots if they hit just right, making for some incredibly overpowered armor. That’s why Telesto has been removed now, but my question is, how the heck did you Guardians come up with this?

I can understand Guardians figuring out that Telesto bolts combine with a mod to provide more Super energy. After all, Bungie has explained to us that the bolts count as physical entities in the game, with health and everything, meaning they can trigger all sorts of mad stuff. But I don’t understand how you can work out that Telesto bolts become a shield for your allies without taking the piss a lot.

I can imagine a group of Guardians getting together for Trials of Osiris and just going in without thinking about what they’re doing. One of them, someone like me who never takes this game seriously enough, must have blasted their teammate with Telesto. Then, the opposition must have used their Golden Gun and fired, only for the Guardian with Telesto bolts on to survive and kill the enemy.

This is a ridiculous situation, but it’s one I can definitely see happening. To be honest, though, I don’t see why Bungie is disabling Telesto over this one. Sure, it makes a Guardian potentially overpowered for a time, but it’s also a genuine tactic that I think should be in the game. Telesto breaks Destiny 2 in so many ways, but I think this one is a really interesting synergy that Guardians could use across all activities.

Think about it, if you had the chance to give your fireteam some armor with your weapon, you’d do it. There are other weapons that provide a boost to allies, so why not have Telesto fit in amongst the ranks? Again, I get that it’s unintentional, but I also think that it should definitely be in the game.

Bungie has a chance to take this one as a win and tell Guardians that Telesto armor is now a thing. Imagine the starts that would come into play if you had this tactic to pull out at the last second.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
