Destiny 2 Tips For Mayhem In The Crucible

Mayhem playlists have arrived in the Crucible as part of The Dawning event that’s currently taking place. However, many of you won’t have ever played a Mayhem playlist because up until now they’ve been exclusive to Destiny 1. With Mayhem returning here are some tips to help you survive and thrive in the Mayhem Crucible playlists.

Mayhem completely changes a Crucible match by making your Super and abilities charge up faster, as well as by increasing the frequency that Power Ammo spawns on the map.

The increased Power Ammo is something you need to keep an eye on in Mayhem. Firstly Power Ammo can be a game changer for the entire team when just one player gets hold of some, but in Mayhem a few players can have it a few different times throughout the match. What does this mean for you? It means you need to get hold of Power Ammo, but only when it spawns near you. If Power Ammo spawns and you don’t get it in time, then you need to either hide or be a really great shot in order to avoid death.

Now when it comes to increased Super and ability charges the match completely changes two or three times, depending on how fast one team wins. When your Super is charged you need to know that pretty much everyone else on the map is going to have a charged Super as well, so you need to be both wary and ballsy about how you play. Yes you need to be wary of other Supers popping off around you, most likely murdering you, but you also need to be ready to jump in and pop your Super in an instant. If I’m honest you need to know when to use your Super and when to hold off and save it, but generally if you’re coming up on a group of enemies I would pop it regardless and just kill as many enemy Guardians as you can.

Abilities can change up your play style in a number of ways, so it’s useful to have your Guardian tuned to how you play best in the Crucible. If you’re a support main then make sure you’ve got the abilities to back that attitude up, and vice versa when in comes to being an all out offensive beast.

Ultimately Mayhem is a mode that turns everything up to eleven and sometimes it’s just too much to handle. You need to watch your corners and keep en eye out for groups of enemies, because if you can’t take them down there’s a good chance they’ll be able to rip you apart in an instant. Let us know what you think in the comments.

I'm an avid Destiny 2 fan and player. I fell in love with Destiny 1 during the early alpha and have been hooked by the universe ever since. I really enjoy playing with other Guardians, speculating about the lore, and writing about as much of the Destiny universe as I can.
